First Kiss

Fake It Till You Break It, pucker up

August 7, 2018 by Mary

Fake It Till You Break ItSome kisses are planned. You know it’s coming, you wait for it. You can almost count the seconds. Then there are some kisses that come out of nowhere. That surprise you in the most perfect of ways.

Zane and Kristen’s first kiss was one of those surprises. A kiss that neither of them planned, neither of them saw coming, and neither of them could resist.

Excerpt from Fake It Till You Break It

Zane lifted himself up and leaned across the bar. She tried to back up, but he whispered, “Go with it,” and glanced toward the guy next to him.

Kristen nodded and leaned in.

Zane cupped her jaw, her skin soft and silky under his fingertips. He kept his eyes on hers, waiting until the last possible moment to close them. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, as ready for it as he was. He breathed her in, dragging her closer with every millisecond that passed. The wine on her breath tempted him, telling him what he was going to get when he finally had her lips on his.

Her lashes dropped, covering her eyes. The pulse in her neck fluttered a beat faster under the pads of his fingers. Then her lips touched his for just the briefest of kisses, sending a jolt through him.

He meant for it to be a simple peck. A kiss that they could laugh off later. Nothing more than a way to chase off her admirer. But the second his lips touched hers, he knew he couldn’t let her go with that little kiss.

She started to pull back, but he tightened his fingers on her jaw, sliding his hand to the back of her neck and easing her back in. Her lips parted slightly, as though she couldn’t decide if she wanted to welcome him into her mouth or not.

Zane brushed his tongue against the underside of her lips, coaxing her to open for him. Wine filled his senses from the inside out and back again, tasting it on her tongue and smelling it in the air around them.

She moaned softly, barely audible above the noise in the room. Her tongue swiped against his eagerly, and her hand went to his cheek.

Before they got too carried away, Zane eased back from their kiss. He took a second to rest his forehead against hers and meet her eyes. “You okay?”

She nodded.

“Sorry. You looked like you needed a rescue, and I’ve been dying to get my lips on you.”

She laughed huskily, the sound further hardening his cock. “I did. And thank you. Best rescue ever.”

Better vs. Worse, first kiss

March 6, 2018 by Mary

Better vs. WorseI feel like I’m cheating today. I love sharing the first kiss between my characters, but It feels sneaky today since this isn’t technically their first kiss.

Did you read Order vs. Chaos? If so, you might know what I’m talking about. If not, grab that one now so you’re ready to jump into Better vs. Worse in two weeks! Holy cow, is it really only two weeks?

I’m going to go back to freaking out, but you enjoy this sneak peek!

Excerpt from Better vs. Worse

“I owe you?” I stammered. I didn’t know where the conversation was headed, but I knew it wasn’t going to be good.

She nodded and sipped her wine, draining the glass. She set it down and stood before me. “Sex. Right now. I bought this outfit and sexy underwear and even got a damn wax for tonight. We were supposed to go out to a nice dinner and then back to his place. We had a whole night planned out. And you ruined it. So you owe me.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” I pushed to my feet, which proved to be a massive mistake. She was right there, pressing against me.

“I know what you think, Kapena. I know every argument you’re about to make. And I know you want me. I know you’ve wanted me for a while. I’m not drunk yet. I wasn’t drunk when I drove here. I made this decision with full awareness of what I was doing. I need you to give me a night that will take away the frustration that another one of my relationships fell apart. It’s your fault things ended, so you owe me. Please.”

I knew what to say. I knew what to do. I knew how to react. But when I looked into those beautiful hazel eyes, the ones burning with shame that she’d lain herself bare for me, everything I knew went out the window.

I yanked her against me and angled my lips over hers before my brain said to stop. My hand dove into her hair, tilting her head the way I wanted it so I could kiss her until we were both dying to breathe.

She stilled in my arms, something that tickled my brain and told me to back the fuck off. I started to release her, my fingers uncurling and dropping her locks, my other hand slipping off her. My lips were the last to get the message, slowly easing away from hers.

Then something clicked in her, and she pulled me back in.

All of a sudden, she was devouring me. Her fingers tugged my hair and tilted my head. Her breasts squashed against my chest.

From there, it was a war. Who could take control. Who could make the other moan. Who could get whose clothes off first.

Something inside said this was my one and only slip with her, that it wasn’t going to happen again, and I needed to slow down. But I couldn’t. I needed her.

I pulled back just enough to drag my tongue down her throat. She tipped her head back, giving me full rein to do as I wished with her. I could spend all night nibbling and sucking and tasting her sweet flesh. She moaned and slid her fingers into my hair, holding me against her like she thought I was going to stop.

I was too far gone to stop.

Walk Of Fame, first kiss

January 30, 2018 by Mary

Walk Of FameEvery first kiss is just a little different. When I first thought of this book, I had a very different first kiss in mind. But when I sat down to write, I knew the way they met wasn’t right. So I changed it. And you get to read it now. I’d love to know what you think!

Excerpt from Walk Of Fame

Dillon Young took a drink from his beer and looked around the bar. He sighed and tipped the bottle up. It was stupid to think he could show up on a Thursday night and find someone to go home with.

Dammit.

Dillon nodded to the bartender and got up. He was halfway to the door when it opened and she walked in.

Dillon stopped in the middle of the damn room and watched her. Jeans hugged her curves, a flimsy shirt hanging off one of her shoulders. Her light brown hair drifted behind her as her eyes scanned the bar. When they landed on his, they scanned his body as her lips curled up.

“Hey,” she said.

“Hi.”

“Are you leaving?”

He shrugged. “I was.”

“And now?”

He grinned. “It depends on if you’re staying.”

She looked around then shook her head. “I could go.”

Dillon put his hand on her lower back and guided her out the door. As soon as it swung closed behind them, he pressed her back against the wall and sealed his lips to hers.

She knew the score, but he wanted to make sure she understood the only reason she was leaving the bar with him was so they could make each other feel good. It wouldn’t go anywhere beyond the night.

He thrust his tongue between her lips and ground his hips against hers, letting her feel the way she already affected him. She whimpered and clawed at him, trying to fucking climb him. He didn’t mind helping her at all, scooping her up so she could wrap her long legs around his waist. God he loved a woman who could handle how big he was. When she hooked her heels together, he groaned.

Fuck yeah.

Order vs. Chaos, first kiss

December 19, 2017 by Mary

Order vs. ChaosNot everyone is as thrilled with a first kiss as I am! Getting lost in that moment and forgetting about everything except the person with their lips pressed to yours. I love it. The build-up. The acceptance. The kiss. It’s magical.

But it doesn’t always end well…

Excerpt from Order vs. Chaos

She sighed and that vulnerability snuck back into her eyes. “Why do you care?”

I shrugged. “What kind of person would I be if I didn’t care?”

“You don’t even know me,” she whispered, making me wonder if she was talking to me or herself.

“That doesn’t mean I want you to run yourself ragged or get hurt. You need to take care of yourself.”

“I do fine.”

“I didn’t say you didn’t. I care about the people I’m around. And that starts with you.”

She looked up at me with eyes so big she looked like a cartoon character. She was close to me, close enough that I could smell coconut rolling off her.

Her pulse fluttered in her neck, and her breath quickened. I stepped closer to her, unable to resist the tug between us. I’d felt it the moment I saw her, and it only got stronger as she stared up at me with those eyes that begged me to take care of her.

I wanted nothing more.

She rose to her tiptoes as I leaned down. Our lips met somewhere in the middle, a spark shooting through me. Her lips were soft, delicate, tentative. I didn’t know if she was single, if she even liked me, but in that moment, nothing mattered except kissing her.

Her hands wound around my neck, dragging me closer to her. I slid one hand into her hair and the other low on her waist, desperate to feel her curves.

She moaned softly when my tongue traced her lips, then parted them for me. She tasted as sweet as I knew she would. Like everything good in the world wrapped up in one beautiful wedding planning package.

Which reminded me…she was my boss.

One more week!

Too True To Be Good, first kiss

November 21, 2017 by Mary

Too True To Be GoodThanksgiving is coming up quickly, too quickly I think. It’s hard to believe we’ve now completely skipped over thanksgiving in the US and move on to Christmas once Halloween is over.

I love thanksgiving. It’s a chance to slow down, and a time to be together as a family without having the stress of presents. I love giving gifts, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot of stress that goes along with it. Thanksgiving is one of those holidays where we don’t have to worry about anything except how stretch our pants are and how much pie we can eat before we feel sick.

It’s kind of a great day. Especially since there’s also football.

I talked a few weeks ago about some of the things I’m thankful for. You guys know I’m always thankful for a first kiss. That moment when you wonder if it’s going to happen. That moment where everything seems to stand still. That moment where everything is right and perfect and amazing.

I love creating those moments over and over again. I hope you enjoy the latest one!

Excerpt from Too True To Be Good

She said she didn’t want him. That he wasn’t her type, or her fantasy. That she was going home and didn’t want to get involved.

But he didn’t fucking care.

He wanted her enough for both of them.

He meant what he said. She needed to relax, to enjoy things a bit. To let someone take care of her for once.

No, he wasn’t the man for the job, but he could show her what it was like to be kissed like you were the only thing that mattered. Because in that moment, she was.

Zach traced the seam of her lips with his tongue and groaned when she opened immediately for him. His fingers dove for her hair, angling her head the way he wanted it. She gave him a needy whimper, one that had him hardening beneath the fly of his jeans. He only intended to kiss her, but if she kept making noises like that, he wasn’t going to be responsible for what he did.

Gianna’s hands eased up his chest, toying with him. Her delicate touch was in direct contrast to the hard way he kissed her. Maybe she was giving him a signal, telling him to slow it down.

She pinched his nipple. Hard. He liked that signal.

His tongue glided alongside hers, getting to know her. She tasted like his wine and his food. He wanted her to taste like him. He groaned at the thought of his come on her tongue.

Jesus, he was like a teenager.

Ample & Alluring, first kiss

September 26, 2017 by Mary

Ample & AlluringYou know I’m a sucker for a first kiss. It’s hard for me to imagine this is the last first kiss in the Big & Beautiful series. I almost want to cry thinking about it! But first I have one more great story to share with you.

Are you ready for Peyton and Wyatt?

Excerpt from Ample & Alluring

When he pulled into my driveway, I was definitely not ready for the night to be over. Wyatt walked me to my door, leaving his SUV running.

“I had a great night,” I admitted with a grin. “If all our dates are as much fun as this one, you’ve got yourself a date for Valentine’s Day.”

“I’m glad I could entertain you. I have a feeling I need to step up my game for the next date though.”

“Why is that?”

He shook his head. “You’re not a woman who is easily pleased. The same thing over and over again will only make you dislike winter even more.”

“You’re more perceptive than I gave you credit for.”

He stepped closer to me. “I’ve been paying attention, Dr. Peyton.”

He swept the hair from my shoulders and wrapped his hand around my neck. He leaned in, giving me a chance to back away, but I didn’t want to.

His lips were warm when they met mine. Soft. A casual brush, nothing more than a peck. But I instantly wanted more from him. He eased back, his eyes catching mine. His lips tilted up in a grin, then he leaned in again, pressing his lips back to mine.

He shifted closer, not crowding me, but not letting me forget exactly who was kissing me. He was a perfect gentleman, with a burn simmering just beneath the surface.

I wanted to trace his lips with my tongue, to have him devour me, but he was Wyatt. My friend. The guy who was trying to convince me winter wasn’t the worst season of the year. We weren’t getting involved.

Although I was seriously second guessing that decision as he warmed me up.

He pulled back and looked at me. His eyes were darker than the night around us. His lips turned up, and he leaned in to kiss me one more time.

“Thanks, Dr. Peyton,” he said when he finally pulled back.

“Thank you, Mayor Ramsey.”
