#FiveOnFriday with Ashley York

September 1, 2017 by Mary

Please welcome Ashley York back with us again! She has a brand new book to tell us about! But first… A few things Ashley wishes she could do!

#FiveOnFriday If Only I Could…

1 – If only I could live anywhere, I would split my time between Ireland and Scotland except for family events, then I would want to be wherever they were.

2 – If only I could have anyone I wanted to read my books for audio, I would have Liam Neeson read them.

3 – If only I could change any one past event it would be a toss-up. Either I would have Natasha Richardson not go skiing that day that she hit her head and died, leaving her loving husband and family, or I would have Teddy Ebersol and his dad miss the plane back from the Red Sox game and Susan St. James’ little boy would have lived to grow into an amazing man and she would never have known such a heart wrenching loss.

4 – If only I could spend time talking with anyone who was alive the same time as me, I would spend it with  Stephen King, probably because I’m reading his book On Writing and he seems like a regular person.

5 – If only I could turn back time, I’d relive my wedding day and not been so nervous so I could relax and enjoy it! I was so young and shy and standing in front of all those people, I was a wreck!

Eyes of the SeerEyes of the Seer

In ancient Éire, men and women take to the legends for answers. Different-colored eyes are the mark of a Seer, it is said, and those who can see the future are in league with the devil. They cannot be suffered to live.

He wishes to prove himself…

Marcán of Clonascara bears the bloodline of Brian Boru, the legendary high king, and his prowess as a warrior has earned him great respect. But he was born with different-colored eyes, and there are some who would have him suffer a Seer’s fate. His fiercest adversary is Beibhinn, mother to Diarmuid, his close friend and king, and Astrid, the woman who holds his heart. If Astrid ever showed him any interest, he would fight Beibhinn and any army to wed her.

She is desperate to escape…

Astrid is sick of her mother’s belittling, but her brother is in no hurry to see her married, so she decides to see to her own match-making. The man she approaches quickly reveals his lack of honor, but her overbearing mother pushes her to wed him anyway. When Astrid discovers Marcán’s love for her, she realizes that what she wants has been in front of her all along. True happiness awaits them, but only if they can put a stop to her mother’s plans.

Please welcome Ashley York back today! Check out her novel, Curse of the Healer!

Curse of the Healer

After the death of Brian Boru in 1014, a legend arose of a healer so great she could raise a man from the dead, with a power so strong it could make any warrior the next high king of Éire…and to steal it away from her, he need only possess her.

Fated to be a healer…

Aednat has spent her entire life training to be the great healer, knowing she must remain alone. When she meets Diarmuid, the intense attraction she feels toward him shakes her resolve to believe in such a legend. If she gives in to the passion he ignites in her, can she settle for being less?

Destined to be his…

Diarmuid of Clonascra is renowned for his bravery in battle. Only one thing daunts him: the prospect of taking a wife. The safest course would be to keep his distance from Aednat, the bold, headstrong healer who’s far too tempting for his peace of mind. But his overking orders him to protect her from a group of craven warriors intent on kidnapping her to steal her power.

What starts as duty for Diarmuid quickly transforms into something more. Aednat’s power might be at risk, but so is his closed-off heart.

#FiveOnFriday Curse of the Healer by Ashley York

March 24, 2017 by Mary

Please give a big welcome to Ashley York! She’s sharing five great things about history and her new release, Curse of the Healer!

Five Things to Know About My Novel

1-It is set in Ireland, Éire, more than a thousand years ago! Not a lot or artifacts or written manuscripts to go with from that far back but rest assured I am a historian. I take my job of recreating the time and place for you very seriously.

2-Warriors kick ass…arse! Heroes tend to be well-built in all time periods but let me just say, my warriors don’t have to go to the gym, don’t have to play any particular sport, don’t think at all about how their bodies look. These guys are fighting just to survive! Life was freaking hard. Those things alone create heroes that are drool worthy.

3-Feminism did not exist. However, in this culture women had rights. They may need protection from other hard ass warriors that may seek to dominate or abduct them but their own men (i.e. brothers, fathers, husbands) knew their value. And that value was very high for a lot of reasons: the continuation of their tribes; all the times the men were away and the woman had to keep things going; and, on occasion, when they needed to fight alongside the men. We all know women multi-task better than men. In this civilization that comes through loud and clear.

4-This is just the first book in my new series so I’ll be keeping you entertained with new and old characters that you’ll love with more books to come.

5-I love this time period so much, I may need to keep writing about it right up until the Normans invade near the end of the 12th century. What I’m saying is that there may be more than three books in the series.
