#FiveOnFriday with Anne Stone

March 10, 2017 by Mary

Say hi to Anne Stone! She’s got five great questions to answer today! And a look at her three stories!

My name is Anne Stone and I write sweet contemporary romance.  For those of you that are new to me, I’ve written three books across two different series.  Life’s Second Chances is the first book in the Show Me series.  The series follows the Alvarez and Samuels families.  The second book in the series, Life’s Gateway to Happiness, was released in November and the third book, Life’s Turned Upside Down, will release in April.

I have a second series called Williams & Company.  It follows the Williams & Company security firm as they try and uncover the death of a well-known person.  Add in an unplanned pregnancy, a fake relationship, mysterious happenings and PTSD— Never Lose Hope will keep you on the edge of your seat until Williams & Company uncovers who’s behind all of the tragedy.

5 Random questions that I am asked…

What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?

For me it is not writing too much.  I love to tell a story.  Today I find so many stories are rushed and I don’t get to really know the characters.  I have a hard time with novellas because I feel like authors barely skim the surface and before you know it the book is over.  I hope if I ever write a novella that the reader will still feel like when they walk away from the story that there was nothing left to tell.

What draws you to this genre?

I have a thirteen year old niece and I have elderly family.  I want them to enjoy what I’m doing and not be offended by something I may write.  I hope to appeal to a larger audience and not be solely focused on a certain age range.

Tell us about your covers and how they come about?

As I write my book, I scour the various stock photo sites.  It takes me forever to find my couple, but once I do I pretty much know how I want the cover to look.  I often incorporate a scene into my book cover.  In Life’s Second Chances, the characters become engaged at the Botanical Gardens.  The actual garden referenced in the book was used in the cover.  In Life’s Gateway to Happiness, a deer played a predominant role and was featured on the cover.  I have a great cover artist who reads me really well and has yet to disappoint me.

If you could spend the day with a character from one of your books who would it be and what would you?

I’ve loved all of my characters but especially those in the Show Me series.  I would love to spend a day with Alejandro Alvarez who is the hero in Life’s Second Chances.  He’s had a tragic loss that forever changed his life, but he’s also a transplant surgeon that changes peoples’ lives.  I’d love to spend a day at the hospital with him.  He’s such a kind and caring doctor, and I would love to see how he interacts with his patients.

Of all the characters you have written, who is your favorite, and why?

It’s hard for me to choose one for each character that I’ve written has a quality that I admire.  I think my favorite character to write so far has been Gabriella Alvarez.  She’s a minor character in my first book, Life’s Second Chances, but she has her own book coming out in April, Life’s Turned Upside Down.  She’s passionate about so much.  She loves her family and wants to see her brother, Alejandro, happy again.  She plays an instrumental role in getting the two main characters, Angelina Samuels and her brother, Alejandro, together in Life’s Second Chances.  She’s spunky, funny and has heart.  Once she sets her mind on something she follows through until her goal is reached.

Life’s Second Chances

Angelina Samuels has lost the only job she’s ever held. A last minute interview lands her a new teaching job just days before the school year is about to begin. It turns out to be the best thing that could have happened when she realizes that her best friend from college, Gabriella Alvarez, is also a member of the teaching staff.

Gabriella’s brother, Alejandro, relocates to his hometown after having lived away from family and friends since he left for college to become a renowned transplant surgeon. He’s settling into a new job, reacquainting himself with family and friends, and is learning to deal ever-so-slowly with the personal loss that forever changed his life.

When Angelina’s sister experiences a health crisis, Alejandro is there to support her and her family. And when Angelina herself experiences a personal tragedy, Alejandro is the only one to guide her through it. As love stares down at them, can Angelina help Alejandro take that second chance on love and marriage?

Life’s Gateway to Happiness

Kelly Samuels is dedicated to her career and has received several promotions in her short tenure at Lattice Works. Kelly’s family is shocked when she returns home unemployed and without an explanation.

Alec Alvarez, a pediatrician from a family full of doctors, is focused solely on his career. He’s declared his bachelor status for life and has no desire for love, marriage, or babies. When Alec finds Kelly stuck on the side of a snowy road, neither of them are prepared for the feelings they begin to have for one another.

As Kelly and Alec grow closer, he wants to know why the once happy-go-lucky Kelly is hesitant to his touch, while Kelly just wants to find purpose to her life again. After Kelly tells two conflicting stories as to why she lost her job, Alec steps in to discover what truly happened. Can Kelly come to terms with what happened to her and move on with her life? And can Alec love enough to give-up his bachelorhood status for good?

Life’s Gateway to Happiness is the second book in Anne Stone’s The Show Me series.

Never Lose Hope

Samantha Jacobs is just trying to lead an average life. Her family has always been in the spotlight, and she’s tired of all the unwanted attention. She decides to work as an assistant at Williams & Company, a private security firm that specializes in protecting families and employees for major corporations. But after an affair, unplanned pregnancy, and tragedy upset her escape for normalcy, Sam runs back home to her parents for what she hopes is safety.

Jason Morgan, a retired Navy SEAL, is second in command at Williams & Company. He’s the special-ops person that’s called upon to rescue people from dangerous situations. Jason’s world is turned upside down after a failed mission leads to him being held captive by drug lords in South America. Once freed, he endures a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally.

New tragedies catch up to Sam even as she attempts to outrun them. She must team-up with Jason and Williams & Company to uncover the facts surrounding her mother’s untimely death.

Ten people were taken from my city over the weeken Ten people were taken from my city over the weekend. Ten people who did nothing wrong. The person who took their lives was filled was hate and took it out on innocent people. #BuffaloNY is the City of Good Neighbors. I didn't know those ten people, but I feel their loss like the rest of my city does. We are all neighbors, and we all hurting.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Aaron Salter, Ruth Whitfield, Pearl Young, Celestine Chaney, Roberta Drury, Heyward Patterson, Margus Morrison, Andre Mackneil, Geraldine Talley, and Katherine Massey; and with the survivors: Zaire Goodman, Jennifer Warrington, and Christopher Braden.
