Failure

Former SEAL Daniel Dunn always relied on his instincts. They never led him wrong, until he was deceived by two people he trusted with his life. Now, Dunn doubts himself at every turn. As the leader, he needs to be in control, but he’s a mess. He wants revenge, and answers, but all he gets is a woman he never thought he’d see again begging for his help.

Ashleigh Edwards never forgot her first love. Once upon a time, she thought Daniel would be hers forever, but he had other plans. Plans that didn’t include her. She moved on and built a life without Daniel, but when she discovers her husband’s secrets, the only person who can keep her safe is the one man who chose his duty over her the last time they saw each other.

Dunn can’t turn Ashleigh away, but he can’t trust her either. When someone else from his past returns, he doesn’t know how to keep Ashleigh safe and take down the man who betrayed him.

Excerpt from Failure

Ashleigh’s pulse pounded in her ears, her chest heaving with each breath. She stared at the man she once knew like she knew herself and laughed. “Do you really believe that? Do you really think you’re so different?”

“I didn’t tell you I wanted to go into the Navy, but I never lied about who I was. It killed me to walk away from you.”

“But you did it! You did it and never looked back!”

“Didn’t you hear Williams today? He knew who you were. He saw your picture for years. I kept a photo of us with me for years. You were the reason I stayed alive. You were the way I survived. You, Ashleigh. You might have moved on and married someone else, and I might have been with other women, but you were always the woman I wanted. You were the only one I ever truly loved. And that crazy fucker knows it.”

Ashleigh laughed. She rolled her eyes and shook her head. “A lot of good that did either of us. I married another man who couldn’t be honest with me, and you ended up working for a psycho who now wants us dead.”

“I was honest with you. I loved you more than anything, Ash. I would have walked away if you asked me to. I would have done anything you asked. But you never fucking did. You just told me to get out.”

“Because you would have hated me. You just said it yourself. You would have hated me.”

“Dammit, Ashleigh, you didn’t want me.”

“I still do, you stupid ass. I’ve always wanted you. Why else would I have shown up here? Because of you, Daniel. Because you’re the only one I trust to protect me, even though I know I’ll lose my heart to you all over again.”

Ashleigh realized what she admitted half a second after she said it. She closed her eyes and turned to walk away.

She didn’t get very far.

Ten people were taken from my city over the weeken Ten people were taken from my city over the weekend. Ten people who did nothing wrong. The person who took their lives was filled was hate and took it out on innocent people. #BuffaloNY is the City of Good Neighbors. I didn't know those ten people, but I feel their loss like the rest of my city does. We are all neighbors, and we all hurting.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Aaron Salter, Ruth Whitfield, Pearl Young, Celestine Chaney, Roberta Drury, Heyward Patterson, Margus Morrison, Andre Mackneil, Geraldine Talley, and Katherine Massey; and with the survivors: Zaire Goodman, Jennifer Warrington, and Christopher Braden.
Dating your ex in a small town means everyone know Dating your ex in a small town means everyone knowing your business. Like the fact that he broke your heart. They should all be on my side, right? Too bad he’s bringing an old town hangout back to life. And getting everyone involved. And making all of us fall in love with him.
