Ample & Alluring, release day

Ample & AlluringToday is so bitter-sweet for me. I have absolutely loved writing the Big & Beautiful series, but I know it’s time to move on to new things. Today is a day to celebrate though. Today is a day for Ample & Alluring, Peyton and Wyatt’s new story!

I think these two are my new favorites. They’re definitely up there. They were so much fun to write! I love their banter and their spark and phew, are they hot! I hope you love reading their story as much as I loved writing it!

Excerpt from Ample & Alluring

“I’m the oldest.”

“Being the oldest sucks!” I blurted.

Wyatt laughed with me. “It kind of does. Of course, my brother and sister are both married. My sister has two kids. My brother said they’re trying for kids. Between them, there’s a little bit of pressure off me.”

“From your parents?”

He nodded, wide-eyed. “Oh, yeah. They’ve been asking when I’m going to settle down and have kids for twenty years.”

“No way.”

He snorted. “My parents were young when they got married. They were young when they had me. They think I’m wasting my youth by not being married already.”

“But you have to want to be married. It can’t just be something you do because they tell you to.”

“Trust me, I agree. I think it got worse after I broke off my engagement.”

“Whoa! You need to warn me before you drop a bomb like that.”

He smiled. “Sorry. I just figured everyone knew.”

I shook my head. “I live with my head in the sand. Or between a woman’s legs.”

He closed his eyes and fought his smile. “You know that’s killing me, right?”

I ate a bite of ice cream and grinned. “Yep.”

He took a breath. “Okay, getting rid of that fantasy image.”

“Ew! They’re my patients!”

“But if they weren’t?”

I rolled my eyes. “Not my fantasy. I don’t know how straight men do my job. I don’t think I could go home and have to look at a woman’s vagina and not have it appear clinical.”

“You’re crushing my dreams.”

“Well, that’s no good. Usually I make people’s dreams come true.”

“And you’re very good at it.”

Everything She Never Wanted, release day

All my stories are emotional. They pull at you and make you think about life and love. This one was particularly hard to write because of the loss. I’m hoping it stays a secret who is lost in this story, but everyone knows that it’s someone in the family. Henry is upset, and Cynthia is still his best friend. Through distance and pain and love and heartbreak. She’s there for him, and that’s what I worked hard to bring out in this story.

We can get through anything with the right person by our side.

“Should I be worried?” he asked, striving for levity in light of what she’d seen inside.

Her eyes betrayed her grin. She was worried about him. She shook her head and stood, brushing the snow from her jeans. She scooped up half the snowballs and carried them to the picnic table.

“This looked like a pretty sturdy wall,” she said, nodding to the side of the house.

“Uh, I think so. Why?”

She shrugged. “I thought you could use it.”

“For what?”

She looked at him and grinned. She grabbed one snowball and tossed it up gently before catching it. Then she turned and threw it at the side of the house. The snow exploded over the dark stone, leaving a beautiful white imprint.

Oh, hell, yeah.

“Seriously? You didn’t lure me out here for a snowball fight?”

She shook her head, that sad look in her eyes again. “You looked like you needed this.”

Henry pulled in a breath, unsure if he was happy she remembered his need to throw things when he was mad, or sad that they were basically strangers who knew each other.

She grabbed another snowball and chucked it at the wall, the packed snow bursting a foot from the first one, and Henry couldn’t resist any longer. He walked over to the pile she’d amassed and tested one. He packed it again, out of instinct, then threw it as hard as he could at the wall.

The blast eased something inside him, ever so slightly. He stood for a moment, enjoying the sight of the snow scattered across the side of his house.

Then threw another one.

And another.

And another.

Cynthia packed snowballs and Henry launched them at the wall. He had no idea how long they were out there. Long enough that the tips of his fingers started to get cold, his gloves soaked through, and he regretted wearing only jeans outside. Cynthia’s nose was red, as were her cheeks, but she didn’t complain. She just kept packing snowballs, not saying a word as Henry threw one after the other at the side of his house.

He finally stopped and looked at her. Really looked at her. She packed another snowball, oblivious to him staring. She looked beautiful with her red face, jeans hugging her lower half. Her white jacket nearly blended in with the snow around them. She finally looked up at him and grinned.

“Feel better?”

He nodded. “Thanks.”

“Any time.”

Wolf’s Blade by Clare Dargin New Release!

Wolf's BladeWolf’s Blade
by Clare Dargin
The Paladins series, Book #1

Samantha Dixon rescues a wounded wolf shifter in the woods near her home … and unwittingly gets drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a murderer. Callum Blake is on the trail of an evil man who would be king of all wolf kind, no matter the cost … it’s up to Callum to stop him. How can Callum fulfill his duty to protect his pack and save the woman who is destined to be his mate?

Excerpt from Wolf’s Blade

Callum Blake growled and grabbed his forearm. He opened his clenched fist as the nails on his hand morphed into long dark claws. He gritted his teeth and closed his eyes as he fought the urge to shift. He pounded the tree and glanced up at the night sky and prayed in agony to the wolf goddess. He pleaded for help. He’d take anything she had to offer if it would provide even the smallest amount of relief.

Nothing. The pain continued. He shook his head and grimaced in an attempt to remove the fog that was starting to shroud his mind. He silently cried out to her again.

Why are you silent? You’re the reason I took this mission and now you’re allowing me to suffer?

His frustration mingled with his physical pain, adding to his misery. The beast fought its way to the surface. He opened his mouth and howled. A mixture of a roar and a yell, it relieved some of the tension within him, but it did not drive away the urge to shift. Leaning against the tree, he dug his claws into the bark, burrowing deep grooves as he exerted his strength against the muscle contraction. His pulse pounded in his ears as sweat poured down on his face. Unlike his wolf self who resided peacefully inside of him, his lycan did not have the same kind of placating nature. It yielded only to the strongest of commands exerted to it from his mind. It was supposed to live in harmony just as his inner wolf, but it refused.

For wolf shifters, their human and wolf self were like two individuals abiding in one nature. One innately human, sharing some of the same abilities and desires as regular people only with keener senses and more powerful instincts. The other, their wolf side was wild and untamed. It acted on a gut responses, using its innate sixth sense to interact with the world around it. The wolf freely gave into its passions, choosing strength and cunning over calculated reasoning.

The lycan, however, was a being whose nature lived far beyond that of the wolf. Not present in all wolf shifters, it was like a curse of their wolf self causing them to revert to a primitive version of their wolf self. Acting on impulse and rage, the lycan did not use reason or soft emotions like joy, love, and happiness, it understood violence.
